She Should Have Used Raid

A woman in New York is suing the owner of an office building in Manhattan because she is allegedly suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after being repeatedly bitten by bedbugs at work. This shows you how stupid I am - I thought bedbugs were only found in beds. I never have sworn to be knowledgeable about bugs in the workplace.

Jane Clark claims she was bitten three times from 2007-2008. She also claims that she feared that that she would bring home the bugs and that they would bite her child. I really hope Clark is getting some form of counseling besides that of the legal variety. There has to be other reasons for her mental trauma. Even if she was bitten by a bedbug three times, that still does not seem to warrant having nightmares and sleeping with a flashlight by her bedside. Maybe it's just me, but it just sounds a little weird.

He Can't Do Any Worse Than Detroit's Mayor

This week a 19 year old college freshman was elected mayor of Muskogee, Oklahoma.  John Tyler Hammonds, is a "self-admitted gamer" who attends the University of Oklahoma. Since this article did not mention sports, I am guessing a "gamer" is someone who likes to play video games. When I was growing up, we used to say stuff like, "that kid is a gamer". That basically meant that the kid was an athlete who maximized his talent and left everything on the field or court.  I guess times have changed. Nevertheless, I think it is good that a young person, who could be doing a million other things, decided to be a public servant. Unfortunately, for Hammons, the position does not pay, so he will still have to get a student loan or scholarship to help pay for his tuition.

What An Idiot!

There are some things that happen in life that you just cannot explain. For example, this man in Fort Worth, TX has an itch on his back that he needs to scratch. This moron grabs a gun to scratch himself and ends up shooting himself in the back. This man will be elected to Congress someday.

Will Beyonce Dress Her Daughter Up Like This?

Hodgirls-1 I am a big fan of Beyonce the singer and actress, but I am not a fan of the fashion part of her business
empire - House of Dereon.  In their advertising campaign for their new clothing line for kids, House of Dereon has girls that look to be 5 and 6 years old dressed in outfits that I would not want to see adults wearing.  These young girls are in high heels, tight fitting clothes and wearing makeup.  I know I am not as hip as most of the people in the world think they are, but I think this advertising campaign is perverse.

As the father of two young girls, I can guarantee you that there is no way in hell they would ever dress up like this.  Unfortunately, this is par for the course when it comes to the clothing choices for young girls. Most of the clothes these days are tight and cut to be very revealing.  Parents have to work hard to dress their girls in "normal" clothing these days.  The only way these fashion designers will change is if parents stop buying these clothes for their daughters.

Beyonce needs to shut this campaign down and find something else to do with her extra time.

Everyone Has The Right To Count Their Money

In a 2-1 decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has ruled that the U.S. Treasury Department discriminates against blind people by making paper money the same size and feel.  The court ruled that this policy makes it impossible for blind people to distinguish the monetary value of paper currency.

"The court also ruled that the United States failed to explain why changing the money would be an undue burden. The Treasury Departmenthas redesigned its currency several times in recent years and adding features to aid the blind would come at a relatively small cost, the court said. Other countries have added such features, the court
said, and the United States never explained what made its situation so unique."

I have never considered how difficult it would be for a blind person to distinguish the difference in paper currency.  I also find it pathetic that the government even tried to fight this in court without just making the necessary inexpensive changes to accommodate the blind citizens of this country. Instead the government wasted tax dollars trying to fight for their right to maintain the status quo.

It's About Time

The trial for R&B singer R. Kelly is set to begin today after being delayed for almost 6 years for various reasons.  It's hard to believe that it has taken this long for this sordid mess to come to trial.  The alleged victim is now 23 years old and says she is not the girl in the tape. Kelly has stayed busy by creating hit music for himself and other artists. I believe the lapse of time since the crime occurred and the insistence of the girl that she is the victim on the tape is going to hurt the prosecution.

I don't know if Kelly is guilty or not because I have never watched the infamous movie.  However, Kelly has shown an illegal weak spot for under-aged girls in previous years. For example, he married the late singer Aaliyah when she was only 15 years old.  The marriage was later annulled. Kelly was also busted in 2003 for possession of child pornography, but the charges were dropped as a result of illegally obtained evidence.

If Kelly is guilty then he should be convicted and sent to prison for a long time.  Let him sing for his supper with the other perverts.

He Finally Gets The Message

Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann finally resigned from his position.  Dann had been under pressure to resign from most members of the Ohio Democratic power structure since he admitted to having an extramarital affair with an employee.  There have also been charges of sexual harassment from other employees in his office.

At least disgraced politicians like former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer and Dann have the decency to resign their positions of power instead of hanging on like the petulant flop Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick.  I will celebrate the day he is kicked out of the mayor's mansion and I don't even live in Detroit.

The Worst Show On Television

Last night I watched an episode of "Under One Roof" featuring the old rapper Flavor Flav.  The only reason I watched the show was because Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens made an appearance on the show.  However, I knew there was a problem when Owens was the best actor on the program and the jokes were not funny.

This show goes to great lengths to reinforce racial stereotypes that minority groups have worked years to remove from the Hollywood culture.

"The new comedy's characters include a sex-crazed black man, a drunken Latino gardener and a grumpy Asian housekeeper who speaks in heavily accented broken English. "It is difficult to do much except watch, wide-eyed with disbelief," writes Times television critic Mary McNamara, who was able to see an episode despite the network's withholding of screeners, "as terrible jokes are made at the expense of just about every racial and socioeconomic group in America."

"Under One Roof" is a very bad version of "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" with weak actors who are not funny.  These actors should not be allowed to act on anything but pizza commercials.  I wish I could have been in the meeting when the creators of the show were pitching it to network executives.  Where is the network executive who thought a show with Flavor Flav in the starring role would be funny?  Flavor Flav is a walking minstrel show who does not care how he is projected on television as long as he's getting paid for his dismal efforts.

Even though this show is still on the air, I take great comfort in the fact that it will soon be canceled because no one is watching it.  If you have not had the misfortune of viewing the show then you are in luck.  Click on the video below and judge for yourself.  Warning - you will not laugh.

Don't Let Your Children Live In Dallas

A strip club in Dallas, Texas is losing its license for 30 days for allowing a 12 year old girl to perform in their club for two weeks.  I can't believe the club is only losing its license for 30 days - what's up with that?  The owner of the club is not even going to jail for one day.  I'm glad to see that Dallas knows how to prevent perverts from exploiting children in their adult businesses.

The Dallas City Council decided to change the ordinance that govern the strip clubs after they realized that the existing law was weak.

"Last month, the Dallas City Council voted to tighten its ordinance regulating the operation of sexually businesses after WFAA-TV and The Dallas Morning News reported that employing someone under the age of 18 wasn’t enough to shut down a strip club."

Dallas will now shut a strip club down for a whole year if they use an underage dancer.  What kind of law is that?  I've got an idea - how about shutting the club down forever

My problem with this situation is that Dallas is saying that if you have a under-aged girl stripping in your club your license will be revoked for a year - that's it.  Where's the jail time for the owner of the club?  I guarantee you that if a man filmed some 12 year old girl stripping in his house he would get some serious jail time - as he should.  The authorities would not care if she misled him about her age.  The adult needs to act like the adult.

It's the strip club owner's responsibility to know the ages of his dancers and other employees.  There should be no excuses for any lapse in judgment.  The club owner failed in his duties as an employer and the city of Dallas has failed in its duties to protect its youngest residents.

Divorce - American Style

If you think anybody can get a divorce anytime they want to then you need to read this article.  You may want to think twice about living in certain states who make it hard to obtain a divorce.
